At the age of 17, he went to Osaka to study at Tensai Art School. At the age of 18, he moved to Tokyo to study at the Pacific Art Association Research Institute. In 1926, he was selected for the Nikaten Exhibition, and thereafter produced a series of avant-garde works, including "Girl Leaning on an Umbrella," "Christ," and "Blind Musician." In 1934, he traveled to China, mainly in Shanghai, and strengthened his orientation toward the Orient. In 1937 and 1938, he was selected for the Independent Art Association Exhibition. In 1939, he helped to form the Art and Culture Association, a group of surrealist painters, and his works such as "Flower Garden" and "Birds" demonstrate a fusion of surrealism with Song and Yuan painting. In 1943, he participated in the formation of the Shinjin Gakai, and worked hard to organize the association's exhibitions. He was conscripted into the army and sent to the continental front, and died of illness in Shanghai in 1946. His other works include "Lion," "Horse," and "Landscape with Eyes."
