Cottrell precipitation

...A type of dust collection method in which dust particles are charged by passing an airflow containing dust between electrodes where corona discharge is occurring, and the particles are moved to the dust collection electrode by the electric field to attach and separate the dust particles in the gas. Electrical dust collection is also commonly called Cottrell precipitation, named after the inventor of this device, American Frederick Gardner Cottrell (1877-1948). In this method, the electrical resistance of the dust naturally affects the dust collection efficiency.
