Kiyosu [town] - Kiyosu
An old town in the northwest suburbs of Nagoya City, Nishikasugai County, Aichi Prefecture. This is where the Oda clan rose to power, and developed as a castle town around Kiyosu Castle. Oda Nobunaga lived there from 1555 to 1567. It was also a post station on the Mino Road. Vegetable cultivation is thriving in the area, and the area is rapidly developing into a residential area. The Tokaido Main Line, Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line, and Tomei-Osaka Expressway run through the town. In July 2005, it merged with Nishibiwajima Town and Shinkawa Town in Nishikasugai County to become Kiyosu City. 5.25 km2 . Population: 18,955 (2003).
