Local stellar system

In the past, the structure of the Milky Way was thought of based on the distribution of stars around the Sun, but in the 1910s, the current scale of the Milky Way was discovered, and the group of stars to which the Sun belongs came to be called the Local System. Its properties have been studied statistically, and it does not have a clear structure, but can also be seen as a single open cluster. It is a disk system about 5,000 light years in diameter, 30,000 light years away from the center of the Milky Way.
