This mountain occupies a corner of the Kimotsuki Mountains in the southern part of the Osumi Peninsula in the southeast of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is 959 meters above sea level. The southern slope is steep and forms a beautiful cliff on the Pacific coast. There is a pure fir forest near the summit, and many plants, such as the Japanese yew and the Takakuma Mitsuba Azalea, are found here at their southern limit, so the entire mountain has been designated a natural monument.
