A town in Hōsu County in northern Ishikawa Prefecture. The town developed around the fishing port on the north shore of Nanao Bay, and is connected by the Noto Railway. In addition to rice cultivation in the river valleys and coastal terraces, the town produces a lot of high-quality ara lumber. 石川県北部，鳳珠(ほうす)郡の町。七尾湾北岸の漁港を中心に市街が発達，のと鉄道が通じる。河谷や海岸段丘での米作のほか，アラの優良材を多産する。2003年７月，輪島市と能都町（現・能登町）にまたがる地域に能登空港が開港。183.21km2。9735人（2010）。
