Aspronishi [island] - Aspronishi

...known as a unique wine producing region. The three islands of Thira, Thirasia, and Aspronisi are arranged like a somma rim, surrounding a sea inlet (caldera) 11 km long and 7 km short, with two islands (central cones) Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni in the center. A large pumice eruption occurred around 1450 BC, and the center of the original volcano collapsed, forming the current caldera, and the islands of Thira and Thirasia were covered with pumice fall and pyroclastic flow deposits several tens of meters thick.
