…During the German occupation (1939-45), the school was closed, but it continued to carry out illegal educational activities. It was re-established after the war, and during the anti-Stalinization movement of 1956, the student newspaper Po prostu (meaning "straight talk") served as the organ of radical intellectuals. In 1968, student demonstrations at the University of Warsaw led to the March Uprising, which led to government repression.
