A kana zoshi (traditional Japanese story). The author is unknown. It was probably written in the early Kanei period. The number of stories varies depending on the version, but there are about 140 stories. It is a collection of humorous tales from the turbulent Sengoku period, and includes many vulgar stories. The writing style is colloquial, which may have made it familiar to readers at the time, and it seems to have sold well. There are many different versions, including old printed versions.
