This family served as chief retainers of the Owari Tokugawa clan. They were descended from Nijō Yoshimoto and lived in Naruse-go, Asuke-sho, Mikawa Province. Masayori served Matsudaira Kiyoyasu, and his son Masakazu distinguished himself in the Battle of Nagashino and other battles. After Masanari was attached to the Owari clan from being a vassal of Ieyasu, he and the Takekoshi clan became the domain's highest ranking elders, or so-called tsukegarō, and managed the domain's administration. For generations, they were appointed as Hayato no masashi. They were entrusted with Inuyama Castle in Owari Province and had a stipend of 35,000 koku. The seventh head, Masatoshi, was known for his efforts in the Inuyama domain independence movement, and the ninth head, Masatomo, was known for his dedication to national affairs.
