Heron of Alexandria (English spelling)

Japanese: ヘロン[アレクサンドリアの](英語表記)Hērōn
Heron of Alexandria (English spelling)
Hellenistic Greek mechanician and mathematician. Dates of birth and death unknown. He is believed to have been active in the 1st century. There have been various theories about his date, but in recent years it has been determined that the description of a lunar eclipse in Chapter 35 of the Dioptra dates to 62 AD. His many works can be broadly divided into those related to mathematics and those related to mechanics. His representative work in the field of mathematics is Metrica, which describes methods of calculating the area and dividing various figures and solids using geometry, such as the famous Heron's rule (triangles).
