Glans - Kitou

A particularly swollen part at the tip of the penis. The corpus cavernosum forms the inner surface of the glans, and since it does not harden like the corpus cavernosum during erection, it acts as a cushion to absorb shocks during sexual intercourse. The urethra opens at the tip of the glans. The glans is also covered by the foreskin, but during erection the foreskin retracts to expose the glans. If the glans is not exposed, the man is phimotic.

陰茎先端のとくに膨大した部分。尿道海綿体が亀頭内面を形成しており、勃起(ぼっき)時も陰茎海綿体のように硬くなることはないので、性交時の衝撃を吸収してクッションの役割を果たしている。亀頭尖端(せんたん)部に尿道が開口する。また亀頭は包皮によって包まれているが、勃起すると包皮は後退して亀頭が露出する。亀頭が露出しない場合は包茎である。
