Vasomotor center - kekkanundouchuu (English spelling) vasomotor center

Vasomotor center - kekkanundouchuu (English spelling) vasomotor center
Part of the circulatory center (cardio-vasomotor center) that regulates the movement of the heart and blood vessels. It is located in the medullary reticular formation, which is distributed from the lower part of the pons in the brainstem to the upper part of the medulla oblongata, and sends impulse signals to the contractile sympathetic nerves that control the blood vessels throughout the body, constantly controlling the tone and contractility of the blood vessels. Therefore, if this center is destroyed, the activity of most of the contractile sympathetic nerves disappears, causing a decrease in vascular tone and dilation, resulting in low blood pressure. The internal structure of the center has not been fully elucidated, but it is functionally divided into two areas, one that increases blood pressure and one that decreases blood pressure, based on the effects of electrical stimulation.
