Vatapi (English spelling)

…A village in the north of Karnataka, southwest India. Formerly called Vātāpi, it flourished as the capital of the early Chalukya dynasty. There are four rock caves on the northern slope of the southern hill. The fourth cave on the eastern end is a Jain cave, and the others are Hindu caves.
