A tributary of the Yodo River that flows through southern Kyoto Prefecture. It is 99 km long. The Iga River and Nabari River join upstream to form the Kizu River. It flows north from Kizugawa City, creates floodplains in the southern Kyoto Basin, and joins the Yodo River at Oyamazaki. Sand flows frequently upstream from Kizugawa City, causing floods. Remains of the jori system can be seen on the floodplains, and the river has long been valued as a water transportation route connecting Omi, Yamashiro, and Yamato. In particular, ports and lumber houses were established here to transport timber. → Related topicsIde [town] | Osaka [city] | Oguraike Pond | Kasagi [town] | Kasagi Mountains | Kamo [town] | Kizu [town] | Kizugawa [city] | Kyoto [prefecture] | Kyoto Basin | Kumiyama [town] | Suminoe [ward] | Seika [town] | Makisho | Tagamisoma | Nishi [ward] | Yamashiro [town] | Wazuka [town] Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
