Kitago [town] - Kitago
A former town in Minaminaka District, southern Miyazaki Prefecture. Located upstream of the Hiroto River, most of the town is covered in forest and wilderness. The Nichinan Line runs through the town. In addition to rice and livestock farming, greenhouse horticulture is also thriving. The town produces Obi cedar, which is used for processing and building materials. In March 2009, it was incorporated into Minaminaka District's Nango Town and Nichinan City. Area: 178.49 km2 . Population: 5,073 (2005).
