Austrian psychiatrist and psychologist. He initially belonged to the Freudian school, but opposed its theories that emphasized sexuality. He placed the desire for superiority (will to power) at the center of human activity and argued that the ego is the site of a conflict between this desire for superiority and feelings of powerlessness and inferiority. His theory is called "individual psychology." → Related topics Compensation (psychology) | Inferiority complex AdlerSource : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
