...The names mangale and mango originated from this game of bending the stems, and were called pi-pi-bana because the stems were used as flutes, and gambouji because of the shape of the white, fluffy seeds after they have been blown away. In spring, young dandelion leaves are boiled or dressed in salads, and are also called nigana or kujina because of their bitter taste. Dandelions open towards the sun and close at sunset, so if you trample on them or their flowers wilt during the day, it will rain, and if they bloom in autumn, it is a sign of heavy snowfall....
