Mt. Arachi

Japanese:
Mt. Arachi

A mountain that is said to have been located near the border between Fukui and Shiga prefectures. It is also written as Arichiyama, Arakiyama, and Arichiyama. The seven-ri-half-way route (Nishi-Omi Road) passed through the mountain. If you go from Kinai to Aibatsuyama in the north of Kohoku, you will enter one of the snowiest areas in the country, so it must have felt very oppressive to people in the capital. For this reason, a poem that touches on the feelings of this mountain is written in Volume 10 of the Manyoshu: "The reeds in the fields of Hatta are colored, and the foam snow on the peak of Aibatsuyama seems to fall coldly." It also frequently appears in the Yoshitsune-ki and Taiheiki. It is thought to be a mountain mass between the old Aibatsu village in the southern part of Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture, and Koaraji in Makino Town, Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture.
