Kyogen book - Kyogenbon

Japanese: 狂言本 - きょうげんぼん

A script for Kyogen. It is usually called a densho or shohon, and in the Izumi school it is also called rikugi. Kyogen has been passed down orally for a long time, and the oldest surviving written script is the Tensho Kyogenbon, which has a colophon from 1578, but it is only a plot and the school is unknown. The Okura school is based on the Toraakirabon written by the 13th head of the school in 1642 and the Torahirobon written by the 19th head of the school in 1792, the Izumi school is based on the Tenribon written in the Keicho period (around 1600), and the Sagi school is based on the Hitorikoroku written by the branch family Den'emon Yasunori at the end of the Genroku period (around 1700). During the Edo period, all were passed down as secret scripts that did not allow others to see, and they were only printed and circulated after the Meiji period, and most of the current works of each school are still unpublished, with the exception of a few.

狂言の台本。普通は伝書，または正本，和泉流では『六義 (りくぎ) 』ともいう。狂言は長い間，口伝で伝えられ，現存最古の詞章書留には，天正6 (1578) 年の奥書のある『天正狂言本』があるが，筋書程度で流儀は未詳。大蔵流は寛永 19 (1642) 年筆録の 13世家元の『虎明本』，寛政4 (1792) 年の 19世家元の『虎寛本』以降，和泉流は慶長 (1600頃) の『天理本』以降，鷺流は元禄末 (1700頃) 分家伝右衛門保教の『筆録』以降のものである。江戸時代にはすべて他見を許さぬ秘書として伝えられ，印刷流布されたのは明治以後であり，各流現行のものは一部を除いてなお未刊のものが多い。
