A round-trip ticket for European trains. It is issued for tourists by Eurail, which has railway companies from about 30 countries as members, and allows passengers to get on and off trains of national railways or major railway companies freely. Service began in 1959. There are various types of passes, such as the Eurail Global Pass, which allows continuous travel for a minimum of 15 days and a maximum of 3 months, the Eurail Global Flexi Pass, which allows continuous or scattered travel for 10 or 15 days, and the Eurail Select Pass, which is limited to 3 to 5 neighboring countries or regions. The countries to which they apply and the prices vary. Reserved seats in all reserved cars and sleeper tickets are charged separately. There are discounted tickets such as the Saver Pass for groups of 2 to 6 people and the Youth Pass (second class only) for people aged 12 to 25. People who have stayed in Europe for more than 6 months for work or study are considered residents and cannot purchase a pass. Residents use a ticket called an Interrail Pass.
