Xingtai - Xingtai

Japanese: 邢台 - けいだい
Xingtai - Xingtai
A commercial and industrial city in the southwest of Hebei Province, China. Population 410,000 (1994). Located at the eastern foot of the Taihang Mountains. A city that developed since ancient times on the fertile plains of the upper reaches of the Ziya River, it was the site of the Xing Kingdom of the Zhou Dynasty. Its founder was the son of the Duke of Zhou who was given the title in the 11th century BC. Around 662 BC, the Xing Kingdom was moved to the area around present-day Liaocheng County in Shandong Province, but the place name remained. Xindu County was established here during the Qin Dynasty, and it was called Xiangguo County during the Han Dynasty. Shi Le, who later founded the Later Zhao Dynasty, made it his capital in 312. During the Sui Dynasty, it became Longgang County, and during the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Xingtai County.
