...Around 1443 (the 8th year of the Zhengtong era), the Xia Shi (the Xianshi) was responsible for the implementation of this law in Jiangxi, and by the 1980s it had been implemented throughout the country. This law created a list of equal laborers, arranging each peasant in the order of their household rank (determined by the amount of their assets), and based on this, they were assigned chores according to their ability to bear them. The assignments were also rotated once every 10 years (later shortened to once every 5 years or once every 3 years). However, around 1500, the system of paying labor in silver began, and this was called ginsha, while the traditional method of providing labor was called riksha. ...
