...The former Mitsubishi Corporation-affiliated companies gradually began to merge, and in 1952 they consolidated into four companies: Mitsubishi Corporation, Fuji Shoji, Tokyo Boeki, and Tozai Koeki. In 1954, a large merger reborn Mitsubishi Corporation as a general trading company. Shortly after, the Kinyo-kai, an association of presidents of Mitsubishi-affiliated companies, was launched, and it was the first to form a corporate group (see the "Corporate Group" section).
