European hazel

...Two species of hazel are distributed in Japan, the common hazel and the horn hazel, but neither is commercially cultivated. The important fruit tree is the common hazel, Corylus avellana L. (English name: common hazel, European hazel), native to western Asia and Europe, with Turkey, Italy, Spain, and North America as major producing countries. The flowers are dioecious.
