Nomura [town] - Nomura

Japanese: 野村[町] - のむら

A former town in Higashiuwa District, southwestern Ehime Prefecture. It occupies the upper reaches of the Hiji River and is covered with large forests. The main settlement is on a terrace in a small basin along the river. Dairy cows were introduced after World War II, and it became the center of the Nanyo dairy farming region. There is a karst plateau at Onogahara. In April 2004, it merged with Sanbe Town in Nishiuwa District, and Akehama Town, Uwa Town, and Shirokawa Town in Higashiuwa District to form Seiyo City. 187.60 ^km2 . Population: 10,941 (2003).

愛媛県南西部，東宇和郡の旧町。肱(ひじ)川上流域を占め，山林が広い。主集落は川沿いの小盆地の段丘上にある。第２次大戦後乳牛を導入，南予酪農地域の中心となった。大野ヶ原にカルスト高原がある。2004年４月西宇和郡三瓶町，東宇和郡明浜町，宇和町，城川町と合併し，西予市となる。187.60km²。１万941人（2003）。
