An old town in the northern part of Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, Minami Matsuura District, Nagasaki Prefecture. The town produces rice in the basin and sweet potatoes and vegetables on the plateau, and also raises livestock and silkworms. Yellowtail fixed net fishing is popular in Hassakuhana. Gyotsugasaki was once a port of call for Japanese envoy ships sent to the Tang Dynasty. In August 2004, it merged with Fukue City, Minami Matsuura District's Tomie Town, Tamanoura Town, Miiraku Town, and Naru Town to form Goto City. 85.27 km2 . 4,371 people (2003). 長崎県南松浦郡,五島列島の福江島北部の旧町。盆地で米,台地でサツマイモ,野菜を産し,畜産,養蚕を行う。八朔鼻ではブリ定置網漁が盛ん。魚津ケ崎(ぎょうつがさき)はかつての遣唐使船の寄港地。2004年8月福江市,南松浦郡富江町,玉之浦町,三井楽町,奈留町と合併し,五島市となる。85.27km2。4371人(2003)。
