Wimple

A type of headgear, a veil that covers the head, sides of the face, and neck. It was a common headgear for married women in medieval Europe, and was made of linen or silk. In modern times, it became the uniform of nuns. It can also refer to similar veil-like headgear in general. かぶりものの一種で，頭部から顔両脇，首をおおうベール。中世ヨーロッパの既婚女性の一般的頭飾りで，亜麻または絹の布地でつくられた。近代以降，修道女の制服となった。これらに類似したベール風の頭飾り一般をさすこともある。
