Bank transaction suspension

Japanese: 銀行取引停止処分 - ぎんこうとりひきていししょぶん

Also called dishonored check or transaction suspension. When a corporation or individual fails to pay a check or bill that it has issued or accepted on the due date and issues a dishonored check, the member banks of the bill clearing house will suspend transactions as a punishment. This is a unique punishment in Japan, as it is not based on any special laws or regulations, but is implemented according to the rules of the bill clearing house.

不渡処分，取引停止処分ともいう。法人や個人が振出し，または引受けた小切手，手形の支払期日に支払義務を果さず不渡を出した場合，処罰として手形交換所加盟銀行が取引を停止すること。この処分は特別な法令などによるものではなく，手形交換所規則の定めによって実施されており，日本独特のものである。
