不渡処分,取引停止処分ともいう。法人や個人が振出し,または引受けた小切手,手形の支払期日に支払義務を果さず不渡を出した場合,処罰として手形交換所加盟銀行が取引を停止すること。この処分は特別な法令などによるものではなく,手形交換所規則の定めによって実施されており,日本独特のものである。
