As a leading figure in the Berlin School, he was a leader in medicine and medical education, and his work Encheiridon medicum was translated into Japanese by Aoki Shusuke, Ogata Koan, and Sugita Seikei under the titles Observing Diseases, Fusi's Experiences, and Medical Precepts, respectively. His book Makrobiotik was also widely read in Europe.
