Representative Spanish dances from the 16th and 17th centuries include the alta, baja danza, canario, chacona, españoleta, folía, and zarabanda, among many others. Of these, the chacona spread throughout Europe as the chaconne and the sarabanda as the sarabande, and eventually became established as important forms of instrumental music. …
