Dapa Mountains

A mountain range that runs from the border between northeastern Sichuan and southern Shaanxi to central Hubei in China. The western part is also called the Mican Mountains. Its altitude is 2,000 to 2,500 meters. Its main peak is Mount Dashenongjia (3,053 meters) in Hubei. The Jialing River, which originates in southeastern Gansu, flows south through the longitudinal valley at the western end of the range, but it also forms the watershed between the Hanzhong Basin in the north and the Sichuan Basin in the south, and the longitudinal valley has been used for north-south transportation since ancient times. The Yangtze River flows east through the Wushan Mountains to the southeast of the range, forming the Three Gorges.

中国、四川(しせん)省北東部と陝西(せんせい)省南部の省境から湖北省中部へ走る山脈。西部は米倉(べいそう)山脈ともいう。標高2000～2500メートル。主峰は湖北省の大神農架(だいしんのうか)山（3053メートル）。甘粛(かんしゅく)省南東部に発した嘉陵江(かりょうこう)が山脈西端の縦谷を南流したりするが、ほぼ、北の漢中、南の四川両盆地の分水嶺(ぶんすいれい)をなし、その縦谷は古くから南北交通に利用された。山脈南東の巫山(ふざん)山脈を揚子江(ようすこう)が三峡を形成しつつ東流している。
