Born November 10, 1892. Joined Kurashiki Institute for Science of Labor (now Japan Institute of Science of Labor) in 1921, and became its director in 1951. Became a professor at Japan Women's University in 1961. Devoted herself to pioneering the field of industrial psychology by researching the relationship between menstruation and work ability and developing the Kirihara-Downey personality test.
