Shigemi Kirihara

1892-1968 A psychologist from the Taisho and Showa periods.
Born November 10, 1892. Joined Kurashiki Institute for Science of Labor (now Japan Institute of Science of Labor) in 1921, and became its director in 1951. Became a professor at Japan Women's University in 1961. Devoted herself to pioneering the field of industrial psychology by researching the relationship between menstruation and work ability and developing the Kirihara-Downey personality test. Died May 2, 1968. Age 75. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University.

明治25年11月10日生まれ。大正10年倉敷労働科学研究所(現日本労働科学研究所)にはいり,昭和26年所長。36年日本女子大教授。月経と作業能力の関連を研究し,桐原ダウニー式性格検査法を開発するなど,産業心理学の分野の開拓につくした。昭和43年5月2日死去。75歳。広島県出身。東京帝大卒。
