Kinzo - Kinzo

Japanese: 金蔵 - きんぞう

1821－? A castaway from the late Edo period.
Born in 1821. A crew member of the Choja-Maru from Etchu Toyama. In 1831, he was shipwrecked off the coast of Sendai, and the following year was rescued by an American whaling ship and landed in Hawaii. He then passed through the Okhotsk Sea and Alaska, and returned to Etorofu Island in 1841. He was sent to Edo, and in 1848, he returned to his hometown of Hojozu Shinmachi in Etchu (Toyama Prefecture).

1821－?　江戸時代後期の漂流民。
文政4年生まれ。越中富山の長者丸乗組員。天保(てんぽう)9年仙台沖で遭難し,翌年アメリカの捕鯨船に救助されハワイに上陸。その後オホーツク,アラスカをへて14年択捉(えとろふ)島に帰着。江戸におくられ,嘉永(かえい)元年故郷の越中(富山県)放生津新町(ほうじょうづしんまち)にもどった。
