Coexistence Congregation - Kyosonshukai

It was founded in September 1874 at the suggestion of Azusa Ono. The name Kyozon Doshu was named by Ono, but it is also said that Kyozon means "society" and Doshu means "association" or "mutual association." Its origins lie in the Japan Student Association, which was formed in September 1873 by Japanese students studying in London. Ono and Baba Tatsuji were the central figures of the Japan Student Association, and their goal was to help Japanese students who were unable to break away from their hometown consciousness and who still had strong feelings from the feudal era, even while abroad, to recognize Japan's current situation in the international community and to become aware of their mission as students through friendship and mutual assistance. …

…明治初期のヨーロッパ留学帰朝者を中心とする，会員の切磋琢磨（せつさたくま）と国民啓蒙を目的とした結社。1874年9月，小野梓の提唱により発足した。共存同衆の名は小野の命名によるが，共存は社会を，同衆は協会を意味するとも，mutual associationの意ともいう。その起源は1873年9月にロンドンの日本人留学生によって結成された日本学生会にある。日本学生会の中心人物は小野と馬場辰猪で，外国にあっても出身藩意識から抜けだせずに封建時代の感情を強くもっている日本人留学生に，国際社会における日本の現状を認識させ，親睦と相互扶助を通して留学生としての使命を自覚させるのがその目的であった。…
