Japanese: ラセンソウ - らせんそう

An annual or semi-shrub of the Tilia family found in fields and roadsides in Japan, reaching a height of 30-100 cm (illustration). Branches are sparsely hairy along one side. Leaves are alternate, ovate or narrowly ovate, membranous, 4-13 cm long, slenderly pointed at the tip, slightly rounded at the base, with 3-5 palmate veins, serrated margins, and scattered simple hairs on both sides. Stipules are narrowly triangular, 3-5 mm long. Axillary cymes have short stalks and produce several yellow flowers about 2 cm in diameter.

日本の畑地や路傍に見られるシナノキ科の一年草または半低木で，高さ30～100cmに達する（イラスト）。枝の一側に沿ってまばらに柔毛がある。葉は互生し，卵形ないし狭卵形，膜質で，長さ4～13cm，先端は細長くとがり，基部はやや円形，3ないし5本の掌状に出る脈があり，ふちに鋸歯があり，両面に単毛を散生する。托葉は狭三角形で長さ3～5mm。腋生（えきせい）の集散花序は短い梗を有し，径2cmくらいで黄色の花を数個つける。
