The ancient name of Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China. It was founded in 1565 by the White Lotus believers who fled to Altan of Tumet, and was named Hohhot (Blue City) by the Mongols. After the peace treaty was concluded in 1571, the Ming Dynasty renamed it Guihua City. In 1628, it fell to Lin Dan of the Chahar tribe, and was later occupied by the Qing Dynasty. During the Qing Dynasty, nearby Suiyuan City was established, and the two cities were merged to become Guisui. From 1937 to 1939, it became the capital of the United Mongolian Autonomous Government, and was renamed Houhe.
