A general term for arthropods belonging to the arachnid class, order Schizomida. This name comes from the protrusion at the end of the abdomen that resembles a lump of mugwort when sniffing. With a body length of 4-7mm, it looks like a small spider at first glance, but it walks slowly and will quickly jump backwards when touched. It lives under fallen leaves or in caves and is carnivorous. There are 180 species in the tropics and subtropics, and in Japan, four species live in the Ryukyu Islands and the Ogasawara Islands.
