This is the diary of Konoe Masaie (1444-1505). The title comes from Masaie's Buddhist name Gohokoin. The original handwritten manuscripts covering a period of 30 years, from January 1466 to December 1468 and from January 1479 to June 1505, are kept in the Yomei Bunko collection. Masaie became Kanpaku (regent) and Uji no Choja (chief priest) in 1479, Daijo Daijin (grand minister) in 1488 (Chokyo 2), and Junsangu (junior third prince) in 1597 (Meio 6). The articles not only include detailed records of court ceremonies, but also record frequent correspondence with Ashikaga Yoshimasa, making it a fundamental historical resource for understanding the turbulent political and cultural history of the time following the Onin War (1467-1477). Published versions include the two-volume Gohokoin Seikaki (1930, Shibundo), edited by Hiraizumi Kiyoshi.
