Born: July 25, 1867 in Würzburg [Died] August 29, 1918. Malan German novelist and poet. He traveled around the world, including Japan. In 1914, he attempted to travel again, but was interned in Java during World War I, where he died of illness. He once belonged to the George school, and wrote many lyric poems, including Ultra-Violett (1893). His delicate emotions were fascinated by exotic places, and he wrote Lingam. Die asiatischen Novellen (1909), Die acht Gesichter am Biwasee (Eight Views of Lake Biwa) (11), and the novel Raubmenschen (11), set in Mexico.
