Jansky, KG (English spelling) JanskyKG

...The longer the wavelength, the wider the radio waves spread and the stronger they become. At wavelengths of several tens of centimeters or more, the strongest radio waves from the sky come from the galactic center and disk components, and these were the radio waves discovered by chance by K. Jansky (1939). The existence of a halo component was accepted because the distribution of radio wave intensity is somewhat anisotropic, it is stronger in the direction of the galactic center, and the Andromeda Galaxy also has a halo, but it cannot be said that it has been fully confirmed. ...

[History of Radio Astronomy]
Radio waves from space were first detected in 1931. KG Jansky, who was studying natural noise that interferes with long-distance communication, noticed radio waves coming from the direction of Sagittarius and interpreted them as radio waves coming from the center of the Milky Way. This great discovery was not remembered much at the time, but after World War II, observations began to be carried out in many countries.
