Born June 16, 1882. The eldest son of Okura Kihachiro. Studied at Cambridge University. In 1924 he became head of the Okura Group and managed the Imperial Hotel and other affiliated companies. After the war he was expelled when the zaibatsu was dissolved. In 1962 he devoted himself to the hotel business, establishing the Hotel Okura. He also contributed to culture and sports by supporting Japanese painters such as Yokoyama Taikan and musicians such as Fujiwara Yoshie, building the Sapporo Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, and supporting the establishment of the Japan Shogi Association.
