Reverse Peristalsis

...In the small and large intestines, strong peristalsis may occur, sweeping out the contents. In the beginning of the duodenum and the cecum, waves of contraction in the opposite direction (reverse peristalsis) may also be observed. Reverse peristalsis helps mix the contents.
