Tooth brushing is thought to have been practiced since ancient times, and the ancient Egyptian Ebers Papyrus also describes a toothpaste made from powdered palm fruit, powdered flint, and other ingredients mixed with honey, which is believed to be the oldest toothpaste in the world.
