Mount Shigi

Japanese: 信貴山 - しぎさん

A mountain in the south of the Ikoma Mountains in northwestern Nara Prefecture. It is an andesite nodule with a base of granite rocks, and has an elevation of 437m. On the mountainside is Chogosonshiji Temple, which tells the story of the Shigisan legend, and Bishamonten in the main hall is widely worshipped in the Hanshin region. It belongs to Kongo-Ikoma-Kisen Quasi-National Park, and in addition to the Shigi-Ikoma Skyline, there is a bus from Shigisan-shita on the Kintetsu Ikoma Line to the east, and a cable car from Shigisanguchi on the Shigi Line to the west.

奈良県北西部，生駒山地南部にある山。花コウ岩類を基盤とする安山岩の岩瘤(がんりゅう)で，標高437m。山腹に信貴山縁起絵巻を伝える朝護孫子寺があり，本堂の毘沙門(びしゃもん)天は阪神地方で広く信仰される。金剛生駒紀泉国定公園に属し，信貴生駒スカイラインのほか東側の近鉄生駒線信貴山下からバス，西側の信貴線信貴山口からケーブルカーが通じる。
