…The capital is Cardiff. The name of the city comes from the Old English (Anglo-Saxon) word for "foreigner" which refers to people other than the Anglo-Saxons, so in Welsh it is called Cymru. It is bounded to the north by the Irish Sea, to the south by the Bristol Channel, and to the west by Cardigan Bay and St. George's Channel, and to the east by a border drawn up at the time of the union in 1536.
