The Divine Teachings

Japanese:
The Divine Teachings
This educational policy is said to have been drafted by lecturer Motoda Eifusa in August 1879 (presumably) at the request of Emperor Meiji, and consists of two parts: the "General Principles of Education" and the "Two Articles for Elementary Schools." It criticized the Western-style education that had been in place since the "School System" and presented an educational view based on Confucian imperial ideology, which became the basic principle of educational policy after the revised Education Act. As the precursor to the "Imperial Rescript on Education" of 1890, it holds great significance in the history of Japanese education.
