An old town in Mima County in the central north of Tokushima Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with cultivated land along the Yoshino River and its tributary, the Anabuki River, which flow east along the northern border. Tsurugi Gorge, a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, is located upstream of the Anabuki River. In March 2005, it merged with Waki Town, Mima Town, and Kiyadaira Village in Mima County to become a city, Mima City. Area: 108.88 km2 . Population: 7,617 (2003).
