[Born] Tempo 8 (1837), Tosa [Died] September 26, 1863. Yamato, Yoshino. A sonno-joi patriot from the end of the Edo period. Also written as Kotaro. His name was Shigego. He succeeded his father Taihei as village headman, but in 1861 he joined Takechi Zuizan's Loyalist Party, and the following year he fled from the domain to serve the state, but was arrested and repatriated in the Teradaya Incident. In 1863 he went to Kyoto and founded the Tenchu-gumi with Fujimoto Tesseki and Matsumoto Keido, and raised an army to overthrow the shogunate and expel the barbarians, but was defeated in the Battle of Washikaguchi and committed suicide.
