This is a monk's temple located in Yoshinoyama , Yoshino-cho, Yoshino-gun, Nara Prefecture. It is famous for being the place where Yoshitsune and Shizuka Gozen took refuge after being chased by Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1185, and where Emperor Godaigo's temporary residence was located in 1336. With the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the early Meiji period, it became Yoshimizu Shrine. 奈良県吉野郡吉野町吉野山にあった僧坊。文治元年(一一八五)源頼朝に追われた義経が静御前とともに身を寄せ、延元元年(一三三六)には後醍醐天皇の行在所が置かれたことで有名。明治初年の神仏分離により、吉水(よしみず)神社となる。
